Noble NPC tips for the table

Nobles are the NPCs who can pay the party, imprison the party or ruin the party with a word. Court intrigue works best when each noble wants something specific and is hiding something specific.

Describe their house and their position — “a second son who will never inherit and resents it” — and the generator builds their scheme and their leverage around it.

For a whole court, generate several nobles and mention their rivals in each description so the grudges interlock.

Give them a place on the map

The free map generator draws their tavern, town or keep, and a free account lets you pin them to it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I run court intrigue in D&D?

Give each noble a want, a fear and a secret, and make at least two of them want the same thing. The party becomes the tool everyone is trying to use.

What stats does a noble have in 5e?

The SRD Noble stat block is CR 1/8 with AC 15 (breastplate), 9 hit points and a rapier. A noble who has seen war suits the Knight stat block (CR 3).

Can I generate a noble house as well?

Each noble comes with their house and its position. Save them to a free LoreKeeper world and ask Lore Assist to build out the house’s history, heraldry and members.

Can I make a royal character?

Yes. Describe a king, queen, prince or princess and the generator gives them a court, a scheme and the pressures of the crown.

Is the noble generator free?

Yes. No sign-up is needed for a small daily allowance. A free account lets you keep going and save.
