Three-String Canticle
the treetop pavilion that opens only to a new song
You climb a spiral of braided roots and arrive at a wide pavilion cradled in the crook of three ancient oaks. Sunlight filters through a roof of living leaves; lacquered rails and polished wood glow like honey. The air is scented with citrus resins and a faint, sweet smoke from citron candles. Conversation is soft, artful: patrons lean close to compare motifs, exchange lines of verse, or bow slightly before striking a single chord on a communal harp. Servitors in leaf-green livery move like choreography, pouring wine from flasks of beaten silver; all eyes appraise newcomers not for coin but for what they carry—new music, new words, a song no one here has heard before.
A carved ivory plectrum threaded with three silver cords hangs over the door; the cords are real hair and small runes are etched into the edges, weathered but gleaming when caught by sunlight.

Canticle's Ring
5 gpA fragrant glass of blended Star-Kissed Rosé warmed with a twist of citron and a single drop of elderflower—drinking it leaves a pleasant clarity in the throat, granting advantage on one Performance (vocal) check within the next hour when the drinker sings an original verse.

Sefrin · barmaid
A quick-footed half-elf who hums counter-melodies while she serves and remembers every patron's first verse.
Bruni of the Knot · cook
A stout hill-gnome who prepares citrus-glazed pheasant and small, precise sweets that patrons describe as 'a stanza on the tongue.'
Maelor of Five Lines
An aging human balladeer who keeps a ledger of songs heard here and wants to be the first to collect the Sundered Lute's missing movement.
Nym the Quiet Reed
A shy halfling whistle-master rumored to have once stolen a court song from a mountain lord and now seeks a safe place to test new variations.
Captain Hest
A retired sky-sailer (gnarled and polite) who claims to have traded with forest spirits and listens for a tune that will point him toward Moonfall Glade.
1
The Sundered Lute: a broken ancestral instrument in Theren's chest can be made whole if someone sings the 'Answering Third'—Maelor thinks the missing line is hidden in a tavern ledger owned by the merchant Jorvik of Four Bridges.
2
Moonfall Glade: Captain Hest insists a silver bell in Moonfall Glade tolls only for songs with a specific three-note motif and that recovering that bell will grant a map to a sky-sailor's lost vault.
3
The Minstrel 'Varric Cloudstep' passed through a fortnight ago with a sealed song-scroll tied to his boot; Nym claims Varric traded the scroll for passage at the Flameleaf Crossing and it may contain the melody needed to wake the Sundered Lute.
