The Wandering Knot
the inn in a walking tree
You step up into a doorway hewn from living grain and are greeted by the soft, hollow thrum of moving wood. Light filters through carved skylights, dappling the floor with leaf-shaped shadows; the air smells of warm bread, pine resin, and a distant wet earth. Conversations ebb and bloom like wind through branches: a string of murmured bargains, the low laugh of a mapmaker, the scratch of a pen as someone copies a chart. Benches and tables curve with the timber; shelves grow from the walls, and lanterns hang in nests of twisted roots.
A heavy, twisted wooden knot carved in relief hangs from iron chains; the wood is polished dark where many hands have touched it and tiny iron studs form a spiral at the center. The sign swings with the tree's slow motion and carries a faint scent of sap and smoke. No letters, only the carved knot.

Knotkeeper's Draught
5 spA heady infusion of resin, honey, and pressed mint served warm; it loosens tongues and minds—after drinking, the imbiber gains advantage on the next Nature or Survival check made within the hour as the tree's memory brushes their thoughts, though they may experience a brief, uncanny dream of the path the Knot last walked.

Rhiann of Mossfen
A robed druid who visits in secret; she seeks the Verdant Seed and will pay handsomely to ensure the tree remains free of collectors.
1
Mirab Deepwell says he will pay handsomely for a sliver of the Knot's heartwood because he believes it contains a map of the walking trees' network lodged in its grain.
2
Old Sable swears an iron lattice with humming runes is tangled in a hollow under the Knot's roots; he thinks it once kept a guardian asleep and wants to find it again.
3
Rhiann of Mossfen worries the Verdant Seed—an old spirit-seed sleeping somewhere beneath the bar—may be weakening; she secretly seeks allies to help her protect or relocate it before collectors discover its power.
