Canticle Perch
the treetop pavilion that trades supper for songs
Canticle Perch sits in a wide, living bowl of joined oaks high above the forest floor; rope bridges and woven railings lead from platform to platform until you step onto a polished ring of planked floor in the treetop canopy. Lanterns of blown glass hang like captured stars and throw soft, pearly light across patrons in forest-green silks. The air is full of leaf-sweet smoke and a thin perfume of citrus blossom; every table has a folded scrap of parchment and a stub of charcoal for the arriving minstrel. When someone sings, conversation falls into a hush so complete you can hear the wings of distant night birds. Servants move with the slow, practiced economy of dancers; cutlery is hammered silver, plates are glazed with forest pigments, and each course arrives with a small woven token stamped with the tune's first line.
A circular cedar disk suspended from braided ivy, carved with a lute wrapped in oak leaves; the wood is silvered from rain and thin moss clings to its edge, no letters or words, only the carved emblem.

Songwright's Cup
12 gpA small goblet of clarified starberry cordial mixed with a single drop of aged moon-press; imbibing soothes the throat and sharpens the memory for a single melody (advantage on Performance checks to recall or mimic a tune for 1 hour).
Aristocratic (5e lifestyle: about 10 gp or more a day)
Rivek · barmaid
A lanky half-elf who serves wine with a storyteller's smile and tapes the first bar of any new song onto the ledger.
Old Neys · cook
A retired goliath chef who seasons every dish with a single pinch of star-salt and demands a tune before he plates anything beyond bread.
Maris Fenn
Ex-hunter who claims she heard a lost lullaby at the Weeping Stone and hires singers to help her remember the rest.
Brother Corth
A bald human archivist who trades rare hymn fragments for a glass of the pavilion's vintage and the right to copy new lines.
Eddrin Thistlewick
A halfling composer always searching for a single melody said to summon fog spirits when played on a wooden whistle.
1
Maris Fenn will pay handsomely for a singer who can follow a fragmented chorus she heard at the Weeping Stone; she believes the rest of the song hides a map to a ruined sylvan shrine.
2
A cracked instrument called the Harrow Lute lies beneath the roots of the Moonfallen Oak; an old map in Brother Corth's possession hints the lute will 'answer' only to a fresh melody.
3
A courier from the Glass Cistern village speaks of a wandering minstrel named Jorin who traded a single perfect line for a silver coin and vanished toward the Hollow Mire clutching a scrap of rune-song.
