Rukhash
Ironless Colossus
Rukhash is a hulking, corpse-like giant whose broken iron manacles are fused into its wrists and shoulders; it lumbers with the slow inevitability of a siege engine and a hunger that drives it toward living flesh. When it moves the chains rattle like distant thunder, and the shards of shattered shackles that stud its body fling from wounds as it fights — small, sharp reminders that this thing was once restrained and has learned to use its imprisonment as a weapon.

Shackle Burst (Recharge 5-6). Rukhash slams the ground, sending a spray of jagged iron fragments in a 15-foot radius centered on itself. Each creature in that area must make a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw, taking 27 (6d8) piercing and necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Creatures that fail the save are also grappled as rusted chains and shards writhe to restrain limbs (escape DC 14).
Rukhash are said to be the twisted results of slave rebellions long quelled by arcane masters: colossal laborers or war giants bound into service and then executed by necromantic rites when they proved too stubborn. Rather than passing cleanly into death, some of these bound giants rose again fused to their restraints; the magic that tied them to servitude became the foundation of an undead intelligence that remembers shackles and pain and now seeks to take those sensations from others. These creatures haunt ruined quarries, abandoned forges, and the cavernous pits of fortress-slavepens where iron and oath-magic were woven together. Local folk tell of a ruined works called the Black Rivel Yard and a retired investigator, Scholar Vessan Orm, who kept a ledger of sightings and maintained the only known ward glyph that slows a Rukhash's advance. Bands of grave-robbers prize the rusted manacles that flake from a Rukhash's skin, selling them to collectors and cultists who believe shards hold echoes of the giant's bondage.
Rukhash stands roughly twice the height of a human (around 14 feet), with an asymmetrical hulking frame of stretched tendons and patches of dried, coal-black flesh. Old iron manacles and chain links are embedded into its wrists, collarbone and forearms, the metal corroded and sprouting rusted barbs. Where the shackles broke, jagged shards of iron pierce its skin like splinters; some shards hang loose, ringing when it moves. Its head is large and blunt, with a flattened, lipless mouth that opens to rows of chipped teeth and a pale, vacant gaze. Veins of dark, oily necrotic ichor trail beneath cracked skin, and its torso bears the stamped marks of labor — brandings and rune scars — half-erased by time. The overall texture is a study in contrasts: pitted iron embedded in leathery, stretched flesh, with ragged cloth remnants flapping from its waist.
