Kharzul Emberkin
Volcanic Sentinel
A hulking figure of blackened obsidian and flowing magma, the Kharzul Emberkin looks like a ruined statue brought to violent life: a humanoid torso fused to a jagged volcanic spine that belches embers and smoke. It moves with slow, crushing deliberation, leaving molten footprints and a scent of brimstone; when angered, its volcanic back explodes in a gout of molten rock that can fry armor and melt iron. More than brute force, a Kharzul carries a terrible patience: it waits near fresh lava flows, stalking miners and caravans that stray too close to the mountain’s teeth before erupting into molten retribution.

Multiattack. The Kharzul Emberkin makes two Slam attacks.
Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d10+3) bludgeoning damage plus 4 (1d6) fire damage.
Molten Burst (Recharge 5-6). The Emberkin forces a gout of molten rock from its volcanic back in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC 15), taking 28 (8d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. Surfaces struck by the burst are covered in a thin layer of molten slag that cools into brittle rock after 1 minute.
Scorch Rebound. When a creature within 5 feet hits the Kharzul with a melee attack, the attacker takes 3 (1d6) fire damage as hot embers flake off the Emberkin's hide.
Legends among smiths and mountainfolk name the Kharzul as the broodstone of a forgotten pyre-god, said to have been hammered from a fallen god’s core in the first age of fire. They are most often encountered above the tree line—along the black slopes of active or recently restless volcanoes—where veins of magma meet fractured rock. Kharzul Emberkin are solitary guardians of thermal fissures and magma wells; they seem to regard living creatures as pests or offerings, and will tolerate only a thin diet of ores, charred timber, and the occasional foolish traveler. Scholars of the Ashbind Collegium argue Kharzul are not merely elementals but a fusion of elemental spark and petrified worship: local cults once poured molten offerings into carved braziers to coax a Kharzul to protect a mine, and the creature’s presence often coincides with crude altars or blackened runes. The fortress-temple of Urr'vakon recorded several accounts in which a Kharzul drove off invading armies by turning the valley into a river of flame; conversely, miners who overreach and strip a vein too bare will draw the Emberkin’s wrath until the vein is sealed by cooled stone—or the miners are gone.
Imagine a towering humanoid of fractured obsidian plates riveted by glowing seams of molten rock. Its chest is a cracked basalt slab with veins of incandescent orange; a vertebral ridge of jagged volcanic spires rises from the spine and puffs smoke and sparks. Limbs are massive, composed of layered igneous shards with gaps where lava churns and drips; knuckles end in blunt, glassy talons. Heat shimmers constantly around it, warping the air; the creature’s 'eyes' are two deep, ember pools set beneath a heavy brow. Scale: about 12–14 feet tall, roughly the height of a doorway topped by a human standing on a crate. Textures: rough, matte obsidian plates, glossy vitrified seams, bubbling magma visible in cracks; the back should read like a small erupting ridge—steaming vents, cindered rock, and occasional spatter of glowing droplets. Pose: a full-body, three-quarter stance on plain white background, one foot forward breaking through cooled slag, arms slightly raised as if ready to strike; no background clutter—just the silhouette and cross-hatched shadow beneath its feet.
