Hieronix
Temple Custodian
A stern, winged sentinel carved of living light and weathered stone, the Hieronix stands over the last relic of a ruined temple like a vow in motion. It moves with deliberate economy, each step a quiet reprimand; its hollow eyes shine with a patient, inexorable justice. Intruders feel the chill of conviction more than malice, and most leave carrying the weight of being judged rather than merely bruised — the Hieronix exacts duty, not cruelty.

Multiattack. The Hieronix makes two Spear attacks.
Spear. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d8+1) piercing damage.
Consecrate Strike (Recharge 5-6). Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8+3) radiant damage. If the target is undead or fiend, it takes an additional 4 (1d8) radiant damage and the Hieronix regains hit points equal to the extra radiant damage dealt.
Interposing Ward. When a creature the Hieronix can see within 5 feet of it is targeted by an attack, the Hieronix can impose disadvantage on the attack roll. The Hieronix can use this reaction a number of times equal to its proficiency bonus (2). It regains all expended uses after finishing a long rest.
The Hieronix are not born so much as appointed. When temples that served the old covenants fall into ruin, priests and builders would bind a fragment of their creed into a guardian effigy: a Hieronix. These guardians were sanctified by rites of vow and kept watch over a single holy object — a reliquary, a sunstone, a last scripture — until a new covenant could be forged or the relic was consecrated elsewhere. Over centuries, as temples collapsed and ages turned, some Hieronix became the only living memory of rites and laws long forgotten. Scholar Verral of the Arboreal Archive wrote of the Hieronix at the shattered shrine of Thal-Que: "It does not anger; it exacts. To bargain with a Hieronix is to bargain with the very covenant that made it. Many factions — the Guild of Ruinwardens and the Circle of Sundering — have tried to pluck relics from beneath their watch, and each attempt ended with an austere reckoning rather than slaughter." Hieronix prefer solitude in ruined sanctums and will not hunt beyond their temple precincts, but they will pursue intruders to the boundary stones if the relic is threatened. Tales tell of a Hieronix that refused to yield a cracked reliquary to a desperate village, holding to its vow until a new priesthood rose to reclaim the relic's meaning.
The Hieronix resembles a humanoid guardian hewn from a mix of pale marble and living, veined metal. Standing roughly as tall as an armored human (about 6' tall), its torso is blocky, angular, with seams where sculptors' chisels would be. From broad shoulder-plates sweep featherlike metal wings, thin blades etched with tiny sigils; the wings are rigid rather than soft but articulate at three places. Its face is featureless except for two vertical slits of soft, inner light where eyes would be; a faint seam marks where a mouth might form when the guardian intones its vow. Surface textures alternate: weathered stone pockmarks across the chest, polished burnished bands at joints, and the relic-glow that seeps from cracks near its heart. Straps of rusted bronze and prayer-knots hang from the hips — ceremonial remnants, not armor. Small glyphic inlays on its forearms pulse when it uses its warding power.
