Morvik Haltsong
Eternal Lance
Morvik Haltsong is a hollow, decrepit fey soldier: rusted plate warped into barklike ridges and a helmet that seems fused to a skull of pale wood. He stalks battlefields that never end, reliving charge after charge with a great polearm in hand, eyes glowing with a tired green fire. Each strike is precise and sorrowful, and those struck often feel their will buckle as if a portion of their life were pressed into Morvik's endless reenactment of a single final, unwon victory.

Multiattack. The Haltsong makes two Halberd attacks.
Halberd. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (2d8+3) slashing damage.
Sweeping Thrust. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 10 ft., each target in a 10-foot line (up to two targets). Hit: 10 (1d10+3) slashing damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or have its movement reduced to 0 until the end of its next turn as a spectral reenactment latches to its will.
Final Requital (Recharge 5-6). The Haltsong swings with the weight of ages in a single devastating arc. Each creature in a 15-foot cone must make a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw, taking 21 (6d6) psychic damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. A creature that fails the save also has disadvantage on attack rolls until the end of its next turn as the Haltsong's bitter memories claw at their focus.
Parry. The Haltsong adds +3 to its AC against one melee attack that would hit it. To do so, the Haltsong must see the attacker and be wielding its halberd.
Morvik Haltsong originated in the Court of Withered Laurels, a small, bitter seat of the Feywild where oaths bind more surely than gold. Once a captain of the court's fallen regiment, Morvik led a doomed stand against an otherworldly incursion at the Moondrift Crossing. He and his unit were betrayed by a pact-mage; in the aftermath the captain was cursed by the court's grief: he would rise each dawn to fight until he won his final battle. Over the centuries the Haltsong has become a rumor among borderland communities and a frequent subject of fey-hunters' journals. The scholar Vennor Eir of the Asterglass Archive compiled field notes on Morvik after an encounter in the Withered Marches, calling the creature a 'reverberant shard of duty.' The Wardens of the Glass Willow, a hedge-fey order, sometimes attempt to shepherd the Haltsong toward a battlefield where a victor could be found, though most efforts fail; Morvik's loop is stubborn and fed by the memories of those he slays.
Morvik stands roughly as tall as a human warrior but appears stooped from too many burdens. His armor is a patchwork of corroded iron and petrified wood: overlapping plates that flare into thorn-like ridges along his shoulders and gauntlets. The helm is narrow and closed, a carved visor with hairline fractures that leak a faint, phosphorescent green light instead of eyes. His polearm is an elongated halberd with a head of cracked bronze and ivy-like veins of bronze that thrum with faint runes; the haft is wrapped in rotted leather and braided with dried laurel. Where flesh should be at his wrists and jaw are fibrous, rootlike tissues that tremble when he breathes. Surfaces are matte and textured—rust scales, dried sap, and the powdered moss of long marches. For scale: Morvik is roughly as tall as a human fighter in full plate and often pictured at a ruined gate or a shallow stream, boots half-swallowed by the earth.
