Pharosylph
Lighthouse Warden
A Pharosylph appears as a small, humanoid wisp braided with threads of white-hot light, perching on the lintels and railings of sea-washed towers. In the lighthouse’s glare it moves like a living lens, folding brightness into sharp, needlelike strikes and whispering old tidesong that makes sailors laugh or weep. When the beam sweeps the bay, Pharosylphs become impossibly fast and precise, defending their tower from lantern-snatching crews and wayward ships as if the light itself were a jealous guardian.

Multiattack. The creature makes two Claw attacks.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d6+3) slashing damage.
Lashing Beam (Recharge 5-6). Ranged Spell-like Attack: +4 to hit, range 30 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (2d6+2) radiant damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw or be momentarily dazzled — its attack rolls have disadvantage until the end of its next turn.
Pharosylphs are said to be born from the first oil burned in a sanctuary lamp or from the trapped gleam of a storm-forged beacon. Coastal keepers and lighthouse orderlies tell that if you leave a pure lamp burning overnight, a single Pharosylph will answer the call — drawn to any flame that speaks of guidance. They do not build nests; they hollow out niches in the masonry, living between the glass panes and the brass reflectors where the light concentrates. Scholars are divided about their true nature. The glasswrights of Harbek Keep treat Pharosylphs as custodial spirits and petition them with oil and brass charms, while the maritime watch The Glasswatch believes Pharosylphs are not entirely fey but a hybrid of elemental light and old sea-magic. The reclusive historian Maereth Golun claims to have seen a Pharosylph plead with a shipwrecked captain, shaping its beam into a map of the rocks before vanishing with a chuckle. Pharosylphs defend their towers aggressively against those who would steal light or damage the lamp, but they can be bargained with song and offered a fresh wick.
Roughly humanoid and the size of a child, a Pharosylph’s body is a lattice of thin, glasslike filaments and oily, membranous skin that glows with inner radiance. Its head is an elongated prism instead of a face, faceted like a lamp lens; pale teal eyes glimmer behind the facets as if seen through rippling water. Long, jointed fingers end in tapered glass claws that catch and refract any light they touch. Faint blackened soot lines its shoulders where lanterns smoke; tiny barnacle-like growths dot the calves from prolonged exposure to sea-spray. When perched, it curls its legs around a railing like a bird. Scale: about 3–4 feet tall, often shown clutching a human-sized lantern or standing in a lighthouse doorway for scale.
