Gormachán Uilech
Arcane Spindle-Colossus
Gormachán Uilech is an immense, walking engine of ancient craft: a golden-plated colossus stitched with runes, its joints turned by unseen gears and a single, pulsing blue gem lodged in its chest. It moves in a slow, inevitable rhythm — a grinding, whirring spin that feels less like motion and more like the ticking of a cosmic clock. When the gem flares, time feels thin and storms of radiant light sweep the battlefield; when it winds down, the ground trembles with the echo of its massive fists. Facing it is like confronting a living relic of a bygone age — beautiful, unstoppable, and utterly indifferent.

Multiattack. The Gormachán Uilech makes two Slam attacks and uses its Chest Beam once.
Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 28 (4d8+10) bludgeoning damage.
Chest Beam. Ranged Spell Attack: +11 to hit, range 120 ft., one target. Hit: 54 (12d8) radiant damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 19 Constitution saving throw or be stunned until the end of its next turn as the gem's brilliance sears the mind.
Spindle Shock (Recharge 5-6). The Gormachán slams its palm to the ground in a slow, humming motion. Each creature in a 60-foot cone must make a DC 19 Dexterity saving throw, taking 45 (10d8) force damage and being knocked prone on a failed save, or half as much damage and not knocked prone on a success.
Reactive Spin. When hit by a melee attack, the Gormachán can use its reaction to spin a segment of its armature and impose disadvantage on the attack roll against it. It can use this reaction a number of times equal to 3 and regains all uses at dawn.
Scholars of the House of Cian argue that Gormachán Uilech predates the coming of the present kingdoms, crafted in a lost era when smiths and druids worked together to bind the patterns of the world into metal. The name recorded in an early ogham stone — 'Gormachán, Watcher of the Spindle' — suggests it was made to stand sentinel over sacred places: burial mounds, ley crossings, and wells that hold the memory of storms. Over centuries it was worshipped, repaired, and feared in equal measure; later, as its makers vanished, it became a legend told to frighten children and a beacon for treasure-seekers hoping to plunder its runic plates. Modern encounters are rare but costly. The arcaneist Brigidán Ó Ceidhe of the Arcanum of Talamh wrote the first modern monograph after a survey team failed to retrieve a fragment of its plating from the Isle of Tír Mór. Guilds such as the Iron-Orach keep registers of Gormachán sightings; communities near ancient mound-circles sometimes perform silence-rites to keep it from activating. The construct appears to follow an internal program of preservation: it defends sites with ritual precision, collects magical artifacts that resonate with its chest gem, and rarely pursues beyond a few miles — unless the gem is plundered or its spindle mechanism is forced to spin faster, at which point it can become relentlessly aggressive.
Imagine a tower-sized humanoid of burnished gold plate, joints exposed like the spokes of enormous clockwork wheels. Its broad shoulders are layered with interlocking laminae engraved with Ogham runs and spirals; the plating shimmers with faint blue veins that pulse when the chest gem charges. The head is helmet-like with a vertical slit of cobalt light where eyes might be, flanked by spiraled bronze filigree that resembles a druidic torque. The chest houses a fist-sized, perfectly faceted blue gem set in a star-shaped socket; gears and a crystalline spindle are visible behind and below it, slowly rotating. Hands are huge and palm-shaped with articulated fingers and hammered knuckles, each strike throwing up clouds of dust. Scale reference: the creature stands taller than a doorway by threefold — a human stands only to the midpoint of its forearm. Textures alternate between smooth hammered metal, rough-forged gears, and the cold translucence of the gem, with scratches, moss, and old ritual paint clinging in crevices.
