Vorrusk Concatenant
Grafted Horror
A heaving, stitched mass of rotted limbs and gaping maws, the Vorrusk Concatenant lurches forward with a jagged crystal embedded in its chest and a massive, runebristling greatsword clasped in a dozen skeletal hands. It lashes with sword and arms in the same breath; strikes that would fell an ordinary corpse seem only to loosen putrid flesh as other hands, teeth, and bone take hold. The crystal at its core pulses with a cold green light — until that stone is shattered the horror refuses to die, drawing dead tissue from the battlefield to knit itself whole again.

Amalgamated Grasp (Trait). The mass of bodies constantly reaches and bites. Any creature that ends its turn within 10 feet of the Vorrusk must succeed on a DC 16 Strength saving throw or be grappled (escape DC 16). The Vorrusk can have up to three creatures grappled at once. A grappled target takes 7 (2d6) necrotic damage at the start of each of the Vorrusk's turns as mouths and fingers rend at them.
Chest Crystal (Trait). A faceted crystal in the Vorrusk's chest has AC 15 and 35 hit points. It is immune to poison and psychic damage and vulnerable to radiant damage. While the crystal has at least 1 hit point, the Vorrusk cannot be reduced below 1 hit point. If the crystal is destroyed, the Vorrusk immediately collapses and is destroyed (no death saving throws). Fire, bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing dealt to the Vorrusk may damage the crystal if the attack penetrates through to the torso (DM adjudicates).
Multiattack. The Vorrusk makes two Dragon's Wrath greatsword attacks and two Slam attacks with its grasping limbs.
Dragon's Wrath Greatsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (2d6+5) slashing damage plus 7 (2d6) force damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 16 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone as the sword's pulse and the crystal's tug wrench them off balance.
Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d6+5) bludgeoning damage. If the target is grappled by the Vorrusk, it takes this damage automatically at the start of the Vorrusk's turn instead of the grappled-target necrotic damage.
Summon Scraps (Recharge 5-6). The Vorrusk rends a coil of flesh and bone from its own bulk and flings it to the ground. A Swarm of Carrion (use Swarm of Rats statistics but described as reanimated flesh, CR 1/2) rises at a point within 30 feet and acts on the Vorrusk's initiative count. The swarm lasts until destroyed or for 3 rounds.
Clinging Reprisal. When a creature within 5 feet hits the Vorrusk with a melee attack, the Vorrusk can make one Slam attack against that creature.
The Vorrusk Concatenant is the consequence of desperate necromancy conducted on a battlefield where the dead far outnumbered the living. A cabal known as the Threnic Covenant bound a drained wyrm-crystal into a mass of corpses to create an unending guardian; the experiment produced the Vorrusk, a thing that stitched new bodies with the ash of the old and fed on sorrow as much as flesh. Rumors say one such construct still lurks beneath the salt-pitted ramparts of Kest Hold, its crystal humming whenever a storm approaches. Scholars disagree on the origin of the crystal the Várrusk bears. Some, like the cryptomancer Halvar Motech, claim it's a shard of a Stirring Dragon's heartstone — a magic organ capable of animating bone en masse. Villagers in the borderlands tell darker tales: that the Vorrusk searches not only for bodies but for grief, and that its many mouths whisper names of loved ones to coax the living into coming close. Hunters and necromancers both prize a Vorrusk's crystal, but few live to carry one away — the crystal is cursed, and guilds such as the Black Gullet guard their findings fiercely.
The Vorrusk Concatenant is the size of a large humanoid mass — roughly 9 feet tall when it stands, its bulk formed of dozens of corpses woven together with sinew, wire, and blackened thread. Its torso is a patchwork cage of ribcages and sternums; set where a heart would be is a faceted, palm-sized crystal lodged amid the bones, faintly veined with green light. Dozens of arms sprout from its sides and back: some skeletal, some with rotted flesh, some clutching lengths of chain or stripped leather to keep the mass together. Faces peer from the sides of its torso — wide-mouthed, toothy, and often mid-scream — and a mane of hair and sinew hangs from its shoulders. The greatsword it wields is a ruined weapon nearly as tall as a man, its blade etched with runes that pulse when the crystal flickers. Textures: oily putrid flesh, dry bleached bone, metal stitches, and the crystalline smoothness of the heartstone. For scale: the figure easily towers over a human shoulder and can fill a standard doorway when it leans through.
