Qhorun
Cavernous Cat‑Tailed Ogre
Qhorun is an unsettling ogre that skulks the damp mouths of caverns, using two long, prehensile, catlike tails as whip‑blades. In battle it lashes with feline grace; a single lash can lock a victim's muscles in ice and leave them twitching, helpless, while Qhorun closes in to crush and devour. Its amphibious habits give it a slippery, uncanny stillness — one moment a hulking shadow at the pool edge, the next a lithe predator unfurling twin barbed tails that glitter with cavern slime.

Multiattack. The creature makes two Tail Lash attacks.
Tail Lash. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d8+4) slashing damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or be paralyzed until the end of Qhorun's next turn. A creature that succeeds on the saving throw is immune to Qhorun's Tail Lash paralysis for 24 hours.
Cavern folk tell of Qhorun as a breed of ogre warped by long centuries spent in the black water labyrinths beneath the Greyspine Range. Where surface ogres rely on brute hands, Qhorun's kind developed lithe tails tipped with bony, serrated knobs and a venomous twitch that interrupts breath and blood alike. Miners and smugglers who vanish near underground springs speak of a low, catlike purr and the startled feel of being struck — not at a muscle but at the marrow. Scholars of subterranean beasts have given Qhorun a place in treatises; Marrek Stonebind, a cavernologist of the Emberclasp Collegium, wrote that they are solitary ambushers that hoard luminescent fungi and the bones of stray troglodytes. The Stonewardens of Krel's Gate have long debated whether Qhorun are descended from ogres exposed to an old fey corruption or a lost amphibious giant stock. Tribes that have learned its habits sometimes leave salted fish offerings at pool mouths to distract a waiting Qhorun, a superstition born of bitter experience.
Qhorun stands roughly 7 1/2 feet tall when upright, hulking and misshapen but lithe at the hips. Its skin is mottled slate-green and damp, pocked with barnacle‑like nodules and faint iridescent streaks that flash when it moves. Two long, muscular tails extend from its lower spine, each as thick as a man's thigh and tapering into a flattened, whip‑like end armored with overlapping keratinous scales and a row of small serrations along the tip. Those tips glint with a viscous, phosphorescent film from cave pools. Its face is a harsh, wide snout with low-set, slit eyes that reflect light like a cat's and a mouth full of jagged, uneven teeth. Fingers end in blunt, mud‑crusted nails, and its broad shoulders are scarred from fights with cave wyrms and collapsed rock. Scale reference: roughly twice the height of an average human; show Qhorun crouched at the edge of an underground pool with stalactites overhead and a ruined wooden ladder for scale. Textures: wet leathery skin, crosshatched barnacle patches, frayed cords of old trinkets tied to one wrist.
