Gorhulk
Rubblebound Cavern Ogre
The Gorhulk resembles a moving pile of limestone and slag: eyes like coal embers set into a hulking torso of gravel and packed clay, its limbs half-formed from stacked boulders. It lumbers through cave systems, leaving a trail of shattered stone and echoing, grinding sighs as it gorges on mineral veins and the bones of cave beasts. When angered it slams the floor and the surrounding rock crumbles into choking dust — not merely an ogre of flesh, but a living collapse, slow and inevitable.

Multiattack. The Gorhulk makes two Slam attacks.
Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (2d6+2) bludgeoning damage.
Hurl Rubble. Ranged Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, range 30/120 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d8+2) bludgeoning damage. On a hit, the target must succeed on a DC 12 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone as a chunk of stone slams into them.
Rubbleform (Recharge 5-6). The Gorhulk shudders and slams the ground. Each creature of the Gorhulk's choice within 15 feet must succeed on a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw or take 14 (4d6) bludgeoning damage and be buried under shifting rubble (movement through the space requires climbing over difficult terrain; the target is restrained until it or an ally uses an action to free it, requiring a DC 12 Strength check). On a successful save, a creature takes half damage and is not buried.
Gorhulks are said to have been spawned where ancient earth spirits succumbed to wanton mining and violent earthquakes; the unnatural fusion of stone, hunger, and a remnant of ogre cunning produced these lumbering guardians of ruined seams. Miners whisper that a Gorhulk is born when too many picks bite into a single vein and the spirits of the mountain collect the discarded rubble and scraps into a single, resentful will. The Stonewrights, a guild of spelunking salvageers, keep crude tally marks of known Gorhulk lairs and warn apprentices to never chip away at vein roots alone. Scholars disagree on whether Gorhulks possess true sentience. Vesit Harn of the Korran Institute argues that Gorhulks are emergent creatures capable of simple memory — recognizing the shape of a favored tunnel and returning to it — while older field notes from the deep-cavern guide Mara Neth claim the beasts act purely on voracious instinct, driven to eat mineral-rich matter and the occasional stray troglodyte. Legends from the ruined deephold of Krevash claim a Gorhulk once toppled an entire gallery to smother a band of subterranean brigands; the survivors carved a crude effigy and left a bowl of iron filings as a peace offering, a superstition some brigand bands maintain to this day.
Draw the Gorhulk as a hulking humanoid outline assembled from irregular stones and packed loam. Its torso is a craggy mound studded with quartz veins and rusty ore flecks; two glowing coal-like eyes sit in a recessed cavity beneath a brow of slate. Limbs are muscular but made of stacked boulders and fractured bedrock, with joints wrapped by sinewy mineralized tendons and seams of moss and dried cave slime. Fingers end in blunt stone stubs, and one shoulder bears a slab that looks like a broken cave ceiling. Scale: about the height of a broad human doorway (roughly 8 feet tall), massive and squat rather than tall and slender. Texture should read as coarse — cracked stone faces, crumbly talus, and occasional seams of metallic lichen. Add loose rubble at its feet and small pebbles scattering as it moves; hint of a damp cavern background with stalactites and a narrow tunnel entrance.
