Korgrath
One-Eyed Quarry Giant
Korgrath is a hulking, solitary giant with a single pale eye set in a scarred forehead, forever wandering ruined quarries and stony groves. Instead of hoarding trinkets or raiding villages, it chisels crude, aching effigies from broken pillars and discarded boulders—each statue a battered remembrance of kin it cannot find. The sight of its broad shoulders hunched over a half-carved face, hammer raised as the one eye traces familiar contours, haunts travelers who expect only a rampaging brute; Korgrath’s grief is as dangerous as any blade.

Multiattack. The Korgrath makes two Club attacks.
Club. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d8+1) bludgeoning damage.
Hurl Boulder. Ranged Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, range 30/90 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6+1) bludgeoning damage. If the target is a structure or object, the damage increases to 2d6+1.
Griefful Carving (Recharge 5-6). Korgrath channels its mournful focus into a sweeping strike. Each creature within 10 ft. of Korgrath must succeed on a DC 11 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened of Korgrath until the end of its next turn. A frightened target that ends its turn within 5 feet of one of Korgrath's effigies is restrained by spectral stone for 1 round (escape DC 11). On a successful save, a creature is not frightened for 24 hours.
Korgraths are born from mountain clans shattered by centuries of war, avalanches, or crafted betrayals. Legends say some clans were wiped out by the Stone-kin — creatures or earthquakes depending on the teller — and a single survivor, crazed with loss, would sometimes return from the highlands with its eye taken by a flying shard of flint. That survivor often became a Korgrath: a giant whose grief fixed it to the places its kin died. Over decades it learns the blunt, patient arts of carving and begins to populate its lair with statues, each an attempt to reconstruct who it lost. Scholars such as Ildren Muir of the Cartographers' Archive have catalogued Korgrath sightings around the Grindle Pits and the ruined terraces of Varrun's Fell. The Stonewrights — an order of masons and monument-keepers — regard a Korgrath's effigies as both blasphemy and potential omen; some attempt to complete or mend the statues to calm the giant, while others burn them to prevent other giants from tracing the survivor. Korgrath avoids intense conflict when possible, but it will defend its carved kin with fierce and methodical violence, using boulders and crude clubs to ward off looters and knights alike.
Korgrath stands roughly twice the height of a human (about 12–14 feet tall) with broad, blocky limbs like rough-cut pillars. Its single central eye is milky and rimmed with pale scar tissue; a jagged, old gouge runs from temple to jaw. Skin resembles weathered granite—pale gray with fine pitted texture and faint veins of quartz glinting where light strikes. Fingers are thick, callused, and stained with dust and stone powder; its nails are dark and flaked like slate. It wears scrap leathers and lengths of rope salvaged from quarrying, and carries a crude stone mallet and a chipped chisel tucked into a loop of rope. Around its favored lair are dozens of half-finished statues: ragged human faces, twisted giant hands, and flattened torsos, all hewn from limestone and basalt, some as tall as a man. Moss and salt streaks darken older sculptures.
