Morrath-Khrest
Dread Overlord of the Iron Ring
Morrath-Khrest is a towering, iron-scarred war-lord whose presence warps wills and corrodes hope. He walks as if the earth bends to carry his will; the air around him smells of hot metal and old blood. Where he commands, petty rulers become puppets, and entire battalions break ranks beneath the weight of his gaze. He is as much a living siege engine as a sorcerer-king: his blows crush, his proclamations bind minds, and his solitary, faceless helm is said to hide an intensity like a star gone mad.

Multiattack. Morrath-Khrest makes two attacks: one with his Iron Greatblade and one with Sovereign Gaze (a ranged impositional strike). If both hit the same target, the target must succeed on a DC 19 Wisdom saving throw or be dominated until the end of Morrath-Khrest's next turn.
Iron Greatblade. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 28 (4d10+6) slashing damage plus 18 (4d8) necrotic damage.
Sovereign Gaze. Ranged Spell Attack: +11 to hit, range 120 ft., one target. Hit: 36 (8d8+5) psychic damage, and the target is restrained as bands of cold iron bind it (escape DC 19 Strength or Dexterity). The restrained target takes 9 (2d8) psychic damage at the end of each of its turns until it escapes.
Ring of Dominion (Recharge 5-6). Morrath-Khrest slams the broad iron ring on his finger and emits a 60-foot-radius wave of compulsive authority. Each creature of his choice in that radius must succeed on a DC 19 Wisdom saving throw or be forced to use its action on its next turn to follow a simple, clearly stated command given by Morrath-Khrest (attack, flee, drop items, kneel). Undead and constructs have disadvantage on the saving throw. A creature dominated in this way can repeat the save at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.
Call of the Iron Host (1/Day). Morrath-Khrest calls forth spectral iron-warriors from the mould of the ring. Summon 3 Iron Sentinels (use the statistics of a Helmed Horror but with AC 18, 110 HP total split among them, immune to charm and frightened, and their attacks deal 1d8+4 slashing plus 1d6 necrotic). The sentinels obey Morrath-Khrest's telepathic commands for 1 minute or until destroyed.
Parrying Maw. When a creature Morrath-Khrest can see hits him with a melee attack, he adds +6 to his AC against that attack, potentially causing it to miss. He can use this reaction a number of times equal to 3 and regains all uses at dawn.
Legends say Morrath-Khrest rose from a forge cult that worshipped order through domination. Centuries ago, a conclave of exiled smith-scholars bound a shard of an elemental prison into a ring of black iron and crowned one among them with that curdled power. Morrath-Khrest's ascent began as a political strategist and ended when he melted dissent into fuel for his ambitions. He forged alliances with mercenary knights and infernal brokers, using ritual and blood-oath to extend his authority until dozens of petty realms bent under his shadow. Scholars of the Arx Institute keep a brittle dossier called the Black Ledger, which traces Morrath-Khrest's campaigns and the signatures of his ring-ward. The ledger names three places that bear his mark: the Citadel of Serrun, the iron-hollowed valley called Vekth, and the shattered tower of Council-Prime. Folk songs warn that Morrath-Khrest does not merely conquer — he inscribes his will onto land, law, and the bones of those who resist. Even beings who once opposed him have been known to bend to serve after a single, whispered verdict uttered through his ring-bearers.
Morrath-Khrest stands two and a half times a human's height in hulking plate of hammered black iron, seams soldered with glowing, rune-scarred bands. His helm is featureless save for a single vertical sliver where a faint red light pulses like a cold ember. Massive pauldrons are carved with concentric rings and clenched hands; his gauntlets end in blunt, mechanically jointed fingers reminiscent of an artificer's gauntlet. Where his armor meets flesh there are no gaps — instead, braided cords of metal and sinew bind the plating to his form. A heavy, segmented greatcloak of chain and plate drags along the ground, dotted with sigils that steam faintly. At his left hip hangs a ring — a broad band of dark iron inlaid with a single crackled gem — from which hang thinner rings, each humming with tethered force.
