Chaotic Evil
Melathyr
Infernal Siren
Melathyr is a breathtakingly beautiful tiefling whose voice warps mortal hearts as surely as a blade rends flesh. She combines the grace of a stage diva with the predatory poise of a master manipulator: an otherworldly smile, eyes that glitter like hot coals, and a voice that can unmake wills. In the presence of her song, captains abandon ships, kings sign away thrones, and lovers betray oaths — all while she sips crimson wine and catalogues the wreckage. To face Melathyr is to feel the pleasant warmth of being adored, and then to wake in chains with everything you love taken from you.

Multiattack. Melathyr makes two Harmonic Blade attacks and can use Luring Note once if she chooses.
Harmonic Blade. Melee Weapon Attack: +16 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 22 (2d8+10) slashing damage plus 18 (4d8) psychic damage as the music slices at the target's resolve.
Luring Note (Recharge 5-6). Melathyr releases a single, crystalline tone in a 60-foot cone. Each creature in the cone that can hear her must succeed on a DC 24 Wisdom saving throw or be charmed for 1 minute. While charmed in this way, a creature is incapacitated and has a speed of 0 as it is compelled to approach Melathyr and listen. A charmed creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful, it is immune to Melathyr's Luring Note for 24 hours.
Domineering Verse (3/Day). Melathyr targets one creature she can see within 120 feet. The target must succeed on a DC 24 Charisma saving throw or be dominated for 1 minute (as dominate person, but Melathyr can use the target to speak or sing). The effect ends early if Melathyr is incapacitated or more than 1 mile from the target.
Wail of Unmaking (1/Day). Melathyr sings a towering, infernal chord. Each creature of her choice within 90 feet that can hear must make a DC 24 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save a creature takes 110 (20d10) psychic damage and is stunned for 1 minute. On a successful save, a creature takes half damage and isn't stunned. A stunned creature can repeat the save at the end of each of its turns, ending the stunned condition on a success.
Charm of Minor Pleasures (At-Will). Melathyr targets one creature she can see within 60 feet. The target must succeed on a DC 24 Wisdom saving throw or be charmed for 1 hour. While charmed in this way the creature regards Melathyr as a trusted ally and will defend her non-lethally; at the DM's discretion it may accept small requests. The target can be compelled to perform acts that conflict with its alignment but not acts that would cause immediate death.
Song of Deflection. When Melathyr is targeted by a magic missile spell or a ranged spell attack, she can use her reaction to sing a curt counter-melody. The melody grants her resistance to the triggering damage and grants disadvantage to the attack roll or halves the missile's damage (player's choice) if that attack would otherwise hit.
Legends say Melathyr rose from a bargain struck on a winter rooftop between a desperate poet and a lord of the lower planes. That bargain birthed a seed of infernal grace that matured into a singular being: equal parts temptress, scholar of desire, and precise predator. She drifted through court houses and coastal taverns, learning the exact cadence that makes vows fray and the precise timbre that entangles reason. Her name appears in the hushed margins of treaties throughout the Five Coasts: a struck signature shaped by a bloom of song and a clever whisper that came too late to stop the ink from drying. Melathyr keeps no permanent lair, preferring instead to infest centers of influence — opera houses, aristocratic salons, and gilded courtrooms. One of the few places she is said to have rested is the glassed rotunda of the Moon-Deck Theatre in Veysun, where members of the daemonologist circle called the Onyx Choir attempted (and failed) to bind her. Scholars such as Verin Hoss, the disgraced archivist of the Halls of Law, have pieced her methods together: she rarely kills outright unless necessary, instead harvesting leverage — debts, secrets, lovers — and building a nest of entanglements that feed her whims. The city-states fear her not for the corpses she leaves but for the slow collapse of institutions she engineers.
Melathyr appears as an impossibly beautiful tiefling woman in her late prime: deep, warm umber skin shot through with faint veins of ember-red; two backward-swept horns polished like black horn; long, glossy hair the color of spilled ink that moves with its own subtle rhythm. Her eyes are vertical-slit, embers glowing within, and her smile reveals teeth with a faint metallic sheen. Her voice seems to vibrate the air around her; faint ripples of shimmering motes outline her silhouette when she sings. She favors sumptuous, flowing garments — silk gowns slit to show lithe calves and a trailing hem that brushes the floor — often embroidered with infernal sigils in silver thread. Small tattoos of musical notes and contracts spiral along her collarbone and fingers. Scale reference: about the size of a human woman, fitting through a standard doorway; often depicted atop a theatre stage or leaning on a balcony balustrade, a single spotlight (or moonbeam) catching the sheen of her horns and gown.
