Mogreth Cohort
Imperial Somadorian Power-Soldier
A Mogreth Cohort is an unblinking, methodical engine of war: hulking in segmented cerulean cuirass, a visor of shuttered lenses, and a halberd humming with coiled filaments. It moves with the cadence of a trained unit, each movement measured, each breath-forced through a regulator. On the battlefield a line of Cohorts looks less like soldiers and more like a living wall of disciplined steel and controlled lightning — relentless, expendable, and frighteningly efficient at holding ground or breaking it.

Multiattack. The Mogreth Cohort makes two halberd attacks.
Halberd. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d10+3) slashing damage.
Overcharge Grenade (Recharge 5-6). The Cohort hurls an overcharged grenade at a point it can see within 30 feet. Each creature in a 10-foot radius must make a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw, taking 18 (4d8) lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
The Mogreth Cohorts are the backbone of the Somadorian Imperial Legion's heavy infantry. Forged in the foundries beneath the Citadel of Varn, they pair hardened veterans with younger recruits trained to fight with powered halberds and electrostatic support gear. The Cohort design originated as a field-managed augment program intended to bring disciplined shock-tactics to urban sieges; it soon became standard issue for the Legion's armored brigades. Scholars such as Archivist Meredon of the Calithan Archive record that early Cohorts were experimental — some variants malfunctioned, occasionally shorting and becoming hazards to their own lines. Modern Cohorts are safer but no less feared; local militias learn to fear the clack of a Cohort's boots and the blue flash of its halberd. Legends among borderfolk tell of a lone Cohort standing unmoving against a mob for hours, as if possessed by a discipline stronger than flesh. The Somadorian Legion itself, and the armored guild known as the Aurel Crafthall, guard training methods for Cohorts jealously.
A Mogreth Cohort stands roughly the height and breadth of a well-built human (about 6 to 6½ feet tall). The armor is segmented— overlapping ceramic-steel plates lacquered a deep military blue with thin bands of pale silver— creating a ridged, almost insectile silhouette. A visor array of small, rectangular lenses crosses the faceplate; some lenses are shaded for brightness, others glow faintly with power. Powered filaments loop from a lower spine-pack to the halberd's shaft and the gauntlets, sparking tiny blue motes along their length. The halberd is long (about 7 feet) with a spear point and crescent axe head; veins of insulated metal run along its haft. Textures: dented steel, scuffed lacquer, padded leather straps, matte rubber seals at jointed plates, and a ribbed power-pack with embossed legion glyphs. Scale notes for the artist: show the Cohort next to a human infantryman (kneeling) so the Cohort appears authoritative but not gigantic; place the scene on a ruined stone street with a low, smoke-streaked sky.
