Vault of Sharded Coin
the geode merchant lodge beneath the basalt river
You step through a carved basalt corridor and the world narrows to the glitter of crystal. The lodge is hewn inside a single, cavernous geode whose inner wall blooms with amethyst and smoky quartz; soft pools of warm lamplight catch facets and throw pale violet reflections across hammered brass tables. The air smells faintly of iron, polishing oil, and steeped spice; the hush is deliberate — patrons speak in clipped, well-practiced tones that never quite reach the clink of coin being counted. Servitors in folded black cloth move like shadows along the faceted wall, bearing plates of glazed mushroom and slow-braised fungus cap, while a raised dais near the back contains locked cabinets of coin and curio behind latticed crystal panes.
A heavy iron ring holds a jagged, glimmering geode slab framed in burnished brass; the stone's crystal face is polished to a mirror shine and a faint seam of dust runs from one corner as if something was recently pried out. No letters, only a shallow hammered glyph of a balance scale.

1
Maris Kett will pay a share of her next haul to anyone who retrieves a 'humming shard' lost in the collapsed sluice at Wrenfall Sluice, two hours upstream from the lodge.
2
Captain Voskar claims a hidden lockbox, stamped with the glyph of the Hollow Ledger, lies sealed inside a sunken barge beneath the basalt river near Stonebend; he needs divers and a quiet crew.
3
Siv the Annotator swears that a dormant synapse-stone beneath the lodge can be awakened by the right resonance sequence — the sequence is encoded in a merchant ledger kept by a rival trader at the Riftmarket.
