Grip and Grudge
the guild-hall tavern where apprentices settle debts with fists
The air inside smells of hot metal, spilled ale and frying onions. Long trestle tables sit beneath strings of rattling lanterns; apprentices in patched aprons crowd the benches, elbows scarred with burn marks and calluses, shouting wagers and laughing hard enough to make the rafters hum. When a dispute needs settling a cleared circle appears near the bar: two challengers plant their forearms on a battered plank while onlookers press in, stamps and coins changing hands in the din. Light from the bar glints off belts of tools and brasswork, and the counter is a scarred oak run through with grooves from decades of arm-wrestling. Between bouts, a battered stage hosts quick songs, a hammering entertainer, or a guild foreman proclaiming rulings. Outsiders feel watched first, then drawn in by the human warmth beneath the rowdy bravado — and by the way a quiet corner often holds conversations people would rather not have in public.
A square iron plaque hangs over the door: a blackened gauntleted fist clasping a brass knuckled hand, varnish flaked away where palms touch; a single nail through the top keeps it crooked. No words, only a smudge of old chalk where winners once marked their names.

Stats
Knucklefire
5 spA hot, spiced rum toddy topped with a shot of smoky bitters; it warms the wrist and gives a boastful buzz that steadies the nerves for a round of arm-wrestling (advantage on Intimidation checks for the next 10 minutes, mild headache afterward).

Foreman Varek Hest
A guild foreman who attends weekly to recruit strong-handed apprentices and to collect hush-money from losing houses.
Old Brim

1
Master Craen's ledger (hidden by Bram) lists a stack of forged guild endorsements linking Foreman Varek Hest to a secret fight ring in Basalt Alley.
2
A cursed cinderlock gauntlet named 'Blackpaw' surfaced last month; whoever wears it gains terrifying strength for an hour but forgets the faces of those they loved — a prize sought by the champion known as Old Brim.
3
The basement under the Iron Anvil Foundry hides a sealed chamber rumored to store the apprentice trials' original contracts; a thief named Lysa Tern is planning a midnight heist to sell them to the highest foreman.
