The Whalebone Annex
the smugglers' bar in a stranded leviathan
You duck beneath an arch of polished baleen and step into the yawning cavern of a beached whale skeleton. Lantern light stutters off ivory ribs that curve overhead like a ship's hull; salt, tar, and the sour tang of fermenting kelp wrap around you. A low murmur of trade, argument and broken song bounces off bone; a plank bar has been slotted against the whale's stern, and knots of smugglers, cutthroats and desperate sailors press in on narrow benches. Outside, gulls caw at the exposed vertebrae; inside, shadows move like tide-slick things and the smell of brine never leaves your clothes.
A weathered rib-bone drilled through with a black iron ring, strung horizontally above the doorway; the bone is scorched at one end and bears a single gouge shaped like a fishhook — no words, just the dark stain of old blood

Stats
Marrow & Iron
5 cpA shot of burned kelp spirit poured into a sliver of whale marrow; it warms the chest and blurs the edges of treachery — drinking gives +1 temporary to Deception or Stealth for 10 minutes (once per long rest per drinker, GM discretion).
Squalid (5e lifestyle: about 1 sp a day)
Fenn · barmaid
A wiry ex-deckhand who pours ale with one hand and counts contraband with the other, smiling at trouble and remembering faces.
Grit · bouncer
A scarred dock dog of a man who stands in the rearmost rib-bay and only moves when the smell of coin turns sour.
Old Myrt
A dried-up diver who claims to have found a submerged shrine — she wants someone to pry a barnacled idol from a wreck so she can finish her rites.
Joryn Kettle
A smooth-tongued former caper-leader nursing a pegleg and looking for a crew to fetch a sealed crate he once abandoned beneath the quay.
Hessek the Ledger-man
A nervous clerk who bets small and listens more than he speaks; he keeps asking about a lost 'Corvine Ledger' and avoids Morrun whenever he can.
1
The Corvine Ledger: Hessek the Ledger-man whispers that the Corvine Ledger — a book listing smugglers and corrupt dockmasters — is hidden inside the whale's skull and that someone is willing to pay passage for it.
2
The Barnacled Idol: Old Myrt insists a drowned shrine to the tide-witch Nareen clings to a wreck three fathoms beneath the northern pier and that its carved eye still weeps salt that grants visions.
3
The Sealed Crate: Joryn Kettle says he abandoned a sealed iron crate under the West Quay; whatever's inside made two of his crew vanish and a patrol boat burn to the waterline.
